For the last couple of month a couple of guys and myself have been playing games during lunch. We started by playing risk and then moved on to poker. Today we tried the card game Fluxx. This is a game without rules. As you play the cards they actually create the rules of the game. It is pretty interesting. The first game we played took 45 minutes and the second game we played took 15. It is a very interesting game to say the leastand you have to really pay attention to the rules and to the cards that the other people have. This is something I will most likely pick up so I can play with other people in the future.
On the way into work this morning, I noticed a hand painted sign on the side of the road that read “Google Ron Paul“. I think this is really interesting! This is interesting to me because the sign does not mention that he is running for president, nor does it mention that he is part of the Replublican party. It just tells people that the are number 1 in Google and to go look it up. It is a very interesting way to call people to action. So go Google Ron Paul
Happy Geography awareness week to one and all. This awareness week started 13 years ago and it meant to help people, especially those in k-12 grades, rediscover what geography is.
“The primary goal of the week is to promote awareness about the importance of geography education while demonstrating the breadth of geography and its relevance to almost any other subject. Each year approximately one and a half million students participate in activities related to the week.”
You can find out more info on the offical website of Geography Awareness Week.
This past Saturday I took a night cruise on the Chicago river and lake Michigan. The tour was given by Richard T. Crowe the famous Chicago Ghost hunter. The two hour tour took us down the south branch of the Chicago river and out into the Lake. He talked about such things as the design of the Civic Opera house, the Eastland disaster , and many haunted ships and boats. One of my favorite stories that he told was that of the building at 680 N. Lake Shore Drive. This building was formally known as 666 Lake Shore drive.
It was a great evening and I recommend taking a night cruise like this. If I had a better camera I could get some better night time pictures of the city. The picture shown here is the Wrigley Building taken from the Wacker Dr. side of the Chicago River. While this building wasn’t on this tour you can learn more about it on the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s river boat tour.
